Project Description

With this project I had the distinct pleasure of designing a logo for my good friend and photographer extraordinaire Marcel Comeau. With the inventive name of "Resonance Reflection Photography" to work with, I set out to create a simple yet visually appealing logo that would reflect his passion for capturing stunning imagery.

I started with a stylized vector icon of a camera aperture and almost instantly saw the letter "R" right in the middle of it. I just love it when design solutions give themselves up without a fight! This observation paved the way for a few rounds of experimentation, but ultimately the first rendition of the logo ended up being the winner. It incorporates both a typographic and image based representation of Resonance Reflection Photography in a clean, modern graphic.

There's No Progress Without Process

This was actually the first idea that popped into my head when I was examining the aperture icon and wracking my brain for logo ideas. Similar to the winning version in that it utilizes both imagery and typography that tie into the name and purpose of the company.

Also had this idea swirling around in my head for a purely typographic logo and did some playing around with it to see how it would turn out. While it does have some interesting visual characteristics, it lacks any immediate visual cues to photography and therefore loses a lot of its communicative strength.
